A Walk Around Harappa

Mound AB edge, Harappa

This landscape on the eastern side of Mound AB was the focus of excavations during the 1990s. Some of the earliest Indus seals and button seals were found in this area in 1996 and 1997, and it is providing numerous clues to the development of early Indus writing. A few hundred inscribed objects were found at the site each year, greatly increasing the known number of such artifacts. The National Geographic Society funded work in this area.
