The National Museum of Pakistan was established in 1949 and shifted to his building in Burns Garden in Karachi in 1970. The Indus galleries hold a number of the earliest and most famous objects found in Mohenjo-daro during excavations in the 1920s and 1930s, including the famous "priest-king", which is represented by a replica in the gallery. It has been a long time since the "priest-king" faced admiring audiences.
In recent years, the de-evolution of archaeology to the provinces (Mohenjo-daro is in Sindh) has made federal collections like this – were once property of the colonial Archaeological Survey of India under Sir John Marshall – somewhat unclear.
The second and third images above shows the main hall of the gallery, called "Proto Historic" above the entranceway.
