Excavations in 1997 at the northwest corner of the "granary" platform were undertaken to follow the outline of the structure and document its construction (Trench 1NW)).
Period IIIA Cultural Stratigraphy
Period 3A deposits, representing an early urban phase, exist beneath Mounds E and also show expansion onto the area beneath Mound AB. Growth in the city of Harappa is shown to be both lateral and vertical.
Mundigak Stone Seals
The center stone button seal is from Period IV (2900-2400 BCE), while the right most stone button seal is similar to ones from Period II (3500-3400 BCE) and Period III (3400-2900 BCE).

Street, Mohenjo-daro
At Mohenjo-daro narrow streets and alleyways branch off of the major streets, leading into more private neighborhoods. Many of the brick houses were two stories high, with thick walls and high ceilings to keep the rooms cool in the hot summer months.
Workmen's platforms, Harappa
These platforms are often called workmen's platforms, and were first thought to have been used to thresh grain for what was also thought to have been the nearby "Great Granary."

North Gate and Object X Location
An entry point into the Dholavira city and offering a vantage point over the sprawling cityscape is the North Gate. There are two large and elevated chambers flanked by sunken passageways on both sides. It is connected with L-shaped staircases.

Protecting mud brick walls
After mapping and photography, the fragile mud brick walls of Trench 54 are covered with a protective layer of burlap and sifted soil to form a sacrificial layer in which dissolved salts can dry and crystallize without damaging the ancient walls.
