Paolo Biagi

Paolo Biagi: Born in Brescia on January 30th, 1948. Dott. Degree in Classical Literature, Milan University, with a Thesis in Palaeoethnology, 1972. PhD Degree in Prehistoric Archaeology, Institute of Archaeology, London University, 1981. Assistant and then Curator of the Natural History Museum of Brescia (1978-1981). Researcher, Institute of Archaeology, Genoa University (1981-1988). Associate Professor of Palaeoethnology, Ca’ Foscari University (1988-2003), then Full Professor of Prehistory and Protohistory (2003-present).

Researches and excavations in northern Italy, Sardinia, Slovakia, England, Romania, Western Macedonia, Cyprus, Kuwait, Oman, Sindh and Balochistan (Pakistan). Member of the Italian Archaeological Expedition in Oman (1982-1990). Director of the same mission (1990-1991). Archaeological survey in the Musandam Peninsula sponsored by the IUNC (1991). Since 1993 Director of the Italian Archaeological Mission in Sindh. In 1999 appointed golden medal by Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur. From 1998 to 2003 external Supervisor of the Mphil and PhD students of the Department of Archaeology of the same university. Now Supervisor of the PhD Students, Taxila Institute for Asian Civilization, Quaid-I-Azam University, Islamabad. Editorial board of “Sindhological Studies” - Institute of Sindhology, Sindh University, Jamshoro and “Journal of Asian Civilizations” - Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad, and Archivio de Prehistoria Levantina, Valencia (SP), Adumatu (Riyadh).

Reviewer of ISI journals Radiocarbon, Journal of Anthropological Archaeology, Arabian Archaeology and Epigraphy, Journal of Field Archaeology, Antiquity, Quaternary International, and volumes by Springer and Elsevier. Author of over 340 papers on the prehistory of Europe and the Middle and Near East published on Italian, French, Spanish, British, German, Polish, Ukrainian, Russian, Greek, Croatian, Slovenian, Serbian, Rumanian, Hungarian, Pakistani, Omani, Saudi Arabian, Turkish, American (USA) and Japanese journals and volumes.

Visiting Professor, Department of Archaeology, Ljubljana University (April 1995). Associate Researcher of the Department of Anthropology, Berkeley University (May 1997). Organizer of Archaeology courses at P. Mohila University, Nikolaev (2009 and 2010).
