Excavations in 1997 at the southeast corner of the "granary" area were undertaken to recover a full sequence of pottery, architectural features, and inscribed objects.
Using interpretations presented in Meadow and others (1995), a reconstruction of the bastion/gateway area was completed in EarthVision. The computer reconstructions were based on an artistic rendering completed by HARP archaeologists.

These two local boys decided to hang out in the ancient city after delivering a pot of milk to their father who is one of the site watchmen. The distinctive decorated hat worn by the older boy is worn throughout Sindh province in Pakistan.
High concentrations of objects such as these terra cotta seal and faience tablets indicate the significance of this part of the site (Trench 54 area) for obtaining further insights on the manufacture and use of inscribed pieces.
Every morning many boats are hauled down into the water with help from other fishermen waiting to get to their boats. This is an extremely cooperative move by all the fisherfolk within the village. Every evening these boats are hauled back up.
