Steatite beads

These tiny steatite beads were found in the Harappan cemetery and come from an elaborate hair ornament worn by a male individual. Each bead is less than .01 cm long and less than .01 cm diameter.

Excavations during the 1997-2001 seasons were carried out inside perimeter wall [250]. Here a partial plan of those excavations shows superimposed levels of Period 3C buildings, all mostly robbed of their baked brick walls.

Red-brown glass-like bead

This bead was thought to be the earliest glass in the subcontinent, dating at least to 1700 BC. Trench 38, Late Harappan Period. However, subsequent analysis in 2008 has determined that it is not glass, but some form of crystalline rock.

Libation vessels

Libation vessels made of the conch shell Turbinella pyrum. One of these is decorated with vermilion filled incised lines. A single spiraling design is carved around the apex and a double incised line frames the edge of the orifice.
