Harappa phase drain from above

A portion of a large brick drain (Feature 8) was discovered beneath the Harappan wall (see Image 63). This drain runs E-W and would probably have emptied into a larger N-S drain that flowed to the North through a now-missing gateway.

Terra cotta cones

Decorated terra cotta cones are found at both Mohenjo-daro and Harappa, but no one knows what they may have been used for. Some scholars suggest that they were hung on a string as a plumb-bob for use by masons and carpenters.

Ancient Indus weight discovery

Movable head of a bovine figurine from Harappa

Some movable figurine heads are pierced in other places, such as through the horns on either side of the head. Approximate dimensions (W x H(L) x D): 7.2 x 9.4 x 3.0 cm.

Harappa phase baked brick drain

Brick robbing from both directions removed all but the central portion of this drain, but the remaining contents provide an important sequence of Harappan pottery spanning at least 200 years from 2400-2200 BC.

Circular platform

In 1998, the circular platform first exposed by Sir Mortimer Wheeler in 1946 was re-exposed and the area around the platform was expanded to reveal the presence of the room in which it was enclosed.
