Pit II Harappa

Terracotta bangle fragments
Terracotta bangle fragments decorated with red trefoils outlined in white on a green ground from late Period 3C deposits in Trench 43. This image shows both sides of the two fragments (H98-3516/8667-01 & H98-3517/8679-01).
Female Figurines
Fat women figurines with turban-like headdress and appliqué ornaments. Bangles are worn on both wrists and upper arms, ankle bracelets and a choker probably represent beaded ornaments.

Hare? figurine from Harappa
Some animal figurines with long ears, especially those with the ears laid back against round hollow bodies, have been identified as hares. One animal figurine with long ears laid back above a small solid body may also represent a hare.
Harappa phase ringstone fragment
A wavy ringstone fragment was found in erosion debris near the rubble leveling shown in 51.
Eastern edge of Mound E
Clearing the ancient Harappan debris from the eroded surface outside of the mud brick city wall at the eastern edge of Mound E. In 1997 this area of Trench 11 was cleared to define the stratigraphic sequence between Period 3B and 3C.

Modern replicas
The cup shaped headdress of some figurines may have been used for holding oil and used as lamps.
These replicas and the plate were made by Mohammad Nawaz, a local potter from modern Harappa.
